ELECTION 2018: The Voter Culture
Information about voting and elections are available on many websites. Here, you will find information relevant to New Mexico and to our local area, plus links to those detailed websites. One of our main mission's is to help build a Voter Culture in Dona Ana County in which every citizen recognizes their value as a voter and their obligation as a citizen to vote. Our Voter Culture team is actively involved on the Dona Ana County Clerk's Advisory Committte and has been instrumental in registering voters throughout the county. Our work will continue beyond the November election because we consider voting both a right and an honor.
Las Cruces—Indivisible LAS CRUCES is proud to announce the endorsement of Xochitl Torres Small for election to Congressional District 2. “Xochitl has our vote of confidence because her support of access to quality, affordable health care, aligns with ours,” says Linda G. Harris, the group’s chair.
The progressive group also endorses Democratic nominee Torres Small because of her experience as a water lawyer and natural resources advocate. “Our parks and public lands are not only what makes southern New Mexico so beautiful,” she says, “but they also serve as a significant economic driver for the community.”
Torres Small was born and raised in Las Cruces and though she knows the sprawling district full well, she has revisited every corner to meet and to understand the needs the people she hopes to represent.
Indivisible’s endorsement also comes with the commitment to help her campaign by phone banking, canvassing, and voter registration. “We’ve been working on voter registration since well before the primary. Now we are excited to play a more direct role in the campaign,” says Chair Linda G. Harris.
The group also endorsed: Senator: Martin Heinrich, Governor: Michele Lujan Grisham, Attorney General: Hector Balderas, Secretary of State: Maggie Toulouse Oliver, Auditor: Brian S. Colon, Public Land Commissioner: Stephanie Garcia Richard, Public Regulation Commissioner for District 5: Steve Fischmann.
