Health care expert Renee Despres will discuss the ramifications of the Affordable Care Act’s repeal on New Mexico at the meeting of WE’RE IN: Las Cruces on May 24. The talk begins at 5:00 p.m. at Thomas Branigan Memorial Library, Las Cruces. Dr. Despres, a fellow at the Burrell Institute for Health and Policy Research, is the author of two health reference books for teen and more than 500 articles in national and international publications. She currently writes for the health information website ehealthMD.com.
Her talk on May 23 is based on the findings of her recent publication, which she co-authored with Anne Barraza, also a Burrell Research Fellow. The publication, Potential Impact of Repeal of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, published by the Burrell Institute for Health and Policy Research, provides decision-makers with accurate, non-bias, timely information related to the ACA. Through their research, the authors have produced the statistical and analytical tools necessary to determine the repeal’s likely impact on the state.
