Meet Anselmo Delgado-Martinez, Executive Director from El Calvario Refugee Mission

Anselmo Delgado-Martinez retired as a Sergeant First Class from the United States Army in 2014, having also served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He served as an army medic in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom, and then worked with wounded soldiers in the Warrior Transition Battalion at Fort Bliss.

Anselmo currently volunteers as the operations coordinator with El Calvario’s refugee program, which hosts 30-90 new refugees weekly; assisting them in finding their way to family members across the United States.

Mr. Delgado-Martinez resides in Las Cruces with his wife, and they have two children, both of whom are students at NMSU.

At the May 14, 2019, Indivisible LAS CRUCES Immigration Meeting Anselmo Delgado-Martinez will describe his organization’s central role in helping as many as 90+ migrants from poverty and violence each week find temporary shelter, basic commodities and transportation to more permanent residences with families and sponsors across the United States. Because this highly successful program has been operating in Las Cruces for 12 years, this presentation will describe trends and changes in the immigrant experience as well as the effects those have on the ability of El Calvario and other community organizations to serve immigrant’s needs. The presentation will also emphasize legal, social, and economic issues at individual and macro levels.

Indivisible LAS CRUCES looks forward to seeing you on Tuesday, May 14, 2019, at 5:00 PM in the Roadrunner Conference Room at Thomas Branigan Library, 200 East Picacho Ave., Las Cruces NM
